George D. Miller, 84 of Kirksville passed away Sunday (October 4, 2009) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.
The son of Henry Evans and Lizzie Viola (Gray) Miller, he was born June 9, 1925 in Connelsville, MO. On December 31, 1944 in Fegley, MO he was united in marriage to Mildred Maxine Miley who preceded him in death on August 21, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Anna Jolene Motter.
George is survived by his children, Marilyn K. Bragg and husband Jerry of Cody, WY and Lindell L. Miller and wife Janet of Metamora, IL; three grandchildren, Ken Miller, Russell Bragg and Christie Bragg; five great grandchildren; one brother, Merle Dean Miller and wife Leticia of Cheyenne, WY and one brother-in-law, Clyde Motter of Kirksville.
George graduated from the Kirksville High School with the class of 1943. He farmed on the family farm for 10 years and then went to work for Orscheln trucking in Kirksville as a truck driver where he worked for 29 years until he retired in 1986.
He was a member of Local 688 Teamsters Union. He was well known for his woodworking. He loved to travel and was a fan of bluegrass music.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday (October 9, 2009) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Christie Bragg officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Hurley, Jay Bulen, Matt Tonatora, Rusty Nelson, Bob Day and Charles Lewellen. Honorary bearers will be Verlin Wilhite and Bill Lovegreen.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday (October 8, 2009) at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
