Matthew Brown

Matthew Gail Brown (July 10, 1970 – October 13, 2009) was born in Putnam County, MO, to Gail and Janet (Munden) Brown.
Matthew attended school in Schuyler County, MO, before moving to Iowa in 1980 where he attended school in Washington, IA and North Polk, IA.
At the age of 17 Matthew joined the US Navy. While in the Navy, Matthew served as a fire-fighter on a submarine repair ship in Scotland and was an underwater explosive ordinance disposal diver. Matthew was deployed to the Persian Gulf for Operation Desert Storm. He served in the Naval Reserves and the Army National Guard.
Matthew worked in Texas as a security guard two years before returning to Livonia, MO. He attended Indian Hills Community College where he received a degree in design drafting. Matthew worked at Iowa Steele and Wire then for Ivy Steel and Wire until the time of his death.
In May of 1990 Matthew married Charlotte Christini Rossi in Putnam County. To this union was born Rachel Christini Brown and Megan Marie Brown. Mathew and Charlotte were divorced in 1999. In August of 2006 Matthew married Trelawney Anne Lovell and to this union Jacob Matthew Brown was born.
Matthew was a fun loving guy who enjoyed his family and friends. He loved the water and enjoyed boating and the trips down south with the guys. Matthew also loved sports, golfing with the guys and football. He was very competitive with sports, but could keep it fun. Matthew enjoyed his work and was successful in his work. He will always be loved and missed by all.
Survivors include Matthew’s wife, Trelawney Lovell-Brown, and children, Rachel, Megan, and Jacob Brown, all of Livonia, MO. Other survivors are Matthew’s father, Gail Brown and wife Velma of Kirksville, MO; his mother, Janet Shenefield, of Unionville, MO; a sister, Lynette Hicks and husband David of Livonia, MO; and grandparents, Gerald and Neva Brown and Lois Munden. Nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and a host of friends also survive.
Matthew was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher Gerald Brown and a maternal grandfather, Basil Junior Munden.
Funeral services for Matthew will be held at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 10:00 am with visitation on Thursday, October 15, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. The family will be present from 4:00 – 5:00 pm on Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the family and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO, 63565.
