Loraine Irene (Lane) Hoover, 83, of Gilman, IA passed away at her home on November 7, 2009.
Loraine was born on July 10, 1926 in Pollock, MO the daughter of Evertt Lane and Lola Pearl (Reeves) Lane. Loraine attended the Hand Houston School in Lemons, MO and shortly after her graduation she married William Gerald Hoover at the courthouse in Unionville, MO. The couple moved from Missouri to Iowa in 1950 where Loraine worked as an aid at the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua, IA for 30 years. When she retired in 1990 they moved back to Putnam County for 4 years, but then moved to Gilman, IA to be closer to their children. Loraine loved her house where she would hand quilt and embroider, but most of all loved to cater to her kids and grandkids.
Loraine is survived by her husband Gerald of the home and two children Jimmy Hoover of Rhoads, IA and Betty Carol Wenke of Colfax, IA. Loraine’s surviving grandchildren are Jody Marie Jasper, Terry Lee Wenke, William Bradley Hoover and Michael John Wenke along with 8 great grandchildren. Her 4 surviving sisters include Eva, Jean, Nellie, and Juanita.
In addition to her parents, Loraine was preceded in death by a son, William Jay Hoover and a daughter-in-law, Judy Hoover. Loraine was also preceded in death by 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
Funeral services for Loraine Hoover were held at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 10 with Pastor Kevin Collins conducting the service. Record musical selections were “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “When We All Get to Heaven.” Casket bearers were Terry Wenke, Michael Wenke, Jake Wignall, Jessie Wignall, Kerry Hover, Mark Hoover, John Stickin, Donny Stickin, and Larry Stickin. Interment was in the Dodson Cemetery, Unionville, MO.
