Sarah J. Owings, 79 of Kirksville passed away Friday (November 13, 2009) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center.
The daughter of Vera Sylvia Stutz, she was born November 29, 1929 in Kahoka, MO. She grew up in Kahoka where she graduated from the Kahoka High School. On December 29, 1948 in Kahoka, MO she was united in marriage to Marvin Owings. They moved to the Kirksville area in 1966 where she worked in housekeeping at Truman State University until she retired. She loved spending time doing jigsaw puzzles and playing bingo.
Sarah is survived by her children, Ernest Owings of Quincy, IL; Floyd Owings and wife Julia of Brashear, MO and Robert Owings of Kirksville, MO; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Owings and Philip Owings and his fiancé Amy Dunlap and her children, Sara and Keirsten Fry; two great grandchildren, Ethan Owings and Chloe Owings and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Marvin on July 8, 2002.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday (November 16, 2009) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Morelock Cemetery in Northwest Adair County, MO.
Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday (November 15, 2009) at
