Georgia Anderson, 95, of Kidder, MO, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, MO. She had been a patient there about a week.
Georgia Hazel (Davids) Anderson was born in the Omaha area of Putnam County on January 27, 1914, the daughter of Harlan O. and Lulu (Surry) Davids who preceded her in death. She was reared in that part of Putnam County and on January 26, 1933 she married Virgil Anderson in Putnam County and he preceded her in death on March 13, 1999.
Georgia and Virgil lived and farmed in the Glendale area of Putnam County, MO, until 1959 when they moved to Unionville, MO. Georgia worked briefly cleaning houses and then worked for a number of years at the garment factory in Unionville. She then worked as a dietician at the Monroe Hospital and when Putnam County Memorial Hospital was built, she became a dietician there. She had received special schooling and training for this work. She retired from the hospital in 1980. Georgia moved to Kidder, MO, in 2000 to be nearer to family.
Georgia enjoyed quilting, knitting, and crocheting and assisted at the Putnam County Fair for many years in checking in these handmade items. She was also a 4-H leader and loved to garden, especially raising all kinds of flowers. She was a member of Omaha Baptist Church and the extension club for the Stringtown area.
Georgia is survived by her four sons: Robert Anderson and wife Erna of Kidder, MO; Harold Anderson and wife Marjorie of Holden, MO; David Anderson and wife Joy of Lawson, MO; and Andy Anderson and wife Marsha of Pleasant Valley, MO. Ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive as well as a brother, Bert Davids of the state of Arizona, and two sisters, Helen Baker of Spokane Valley, WA, and Mary Beth McDaniel of Fiddletown, CA.
In addition to her husband, Georgia was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melody Choate, a daughter-in-law, Linda Anderson, and a brother, Harold Davids.
Funeral services for Georgia Anderson will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Recorded musical selections will be “You Lift Me Up” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Casket bearers will be her grandsons, Andrew, Randall, Mark, Shane, Dayne, Warren, and Steven Anderson. Honorary casket bearers will be Curtis Roof and Roger Roof. Interment will be in the Unionville Cemetery.
Memorials for Georgia Anderson are suggested to the Omaha Baptist Church and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th, Unionville, MO, 63565.
