Rosa Amanda Lawson, 75 of Kirksville passed away Sunday November 29, 2009 at the Boone Hospital center in Columbia, MO.
Rosa was born on November 30, 1933 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the daughter of Louis R. and Rosa San Juan-Quevedo. She was united in marriage to Vicente Gil in Buenos Aires, Argentina and to this marriage three daughters were born.
She was survived by Richard Dale Lawson who she wed on August 29th 1985. In addition to her husband she is survived by three daughters, Liliana Redmon of Kansas City, MO, Elsa Harris and husband Keith of Racine, WI, Nelly Leavitt and husband Mike of Denton, TX; one brother, Louis Quevedo and one sister, Ermelinda Quevedo both of Buenos Aires, Argentina; six grandchildren, Ian Redmon, Erin Redmon, Nathan Leavitt, Nicholas Leavitt, Alex Harris and Matthew Harris; two great grandchildren, Ocean and Izaak Redmon; three step children, Michele Tretchler of North Chicago, IL, Mike Lawson of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Lisa Blaisdell and husband Maurice of Jacksonville, FL; three step grandchildren, Hannah Tretchler, Jessica Lawson and Ryan Lawson and one step great grandchild, Izaah Sullivan.
Rose was raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she attended and graduated from High School. In 1963 she came to the United States and lived in Baltimore, Maryland while working in the garment industry. She moved to the Midwest in 1972 residing in Brookfield before moving to Kirksville in 1976. She was employed at Mister Jims as seamstress until her retirement. She was a member of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday December 3, 2009 at the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church with Father Christopher Cordes officiating. Interment will be in the Park View Memorial Gardens.
Casket bearers will be grandchildren, Ian Redmon, Erin Redmon, Nathan Leavitt, Nicholas Leavitt, Alex Harris and Matthew Harris. Honorary bearers will be David Young, Oscar Menza, Gaston Menza, Marcelo Menza, Bobby Leavitt and Gary Lawson.
Visitation will be December 2, 2009.The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the
