Mary Ann Flanagan, 77 of Kirksville passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at her home.
The daughter of L. Boyd and Pearl D. (Vincent) Funk, Mary Ann was born February 20, 1932 in Kirksville, MO. On January 10, 1954 in Kirksville, MO, she was united in marriage to Frank D. Wayman. On November 25, 1990 in Kirksville, MO, she was united in marriage to John William (Bill) Flanagan who preceded her in death on February 3, 2003.
Also preceding her in death were her parents.
Mary Ann is survived by one sister, Linda Hudnall of Kirksville; one niece, Kimberly Ann McClanahan and husband, Lane of Muscatine, IA; one great-niece, Haily Ann McClanahan; two step-children, Lisa Freeman and husband, Tom of Rapid City, SD and Gregory Flanagan of Rapid City, SD and two sisters-in-law, Darlene Stevens of Kirksville and Pat Flanagan of Edwardsville, IL.
Mary Ann was reared in Kirksville where she attended the Kirksville public schools, graduating from the Kirksville High School with the Class of 1950. She attended Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University). After her marriage to Bill, they lived in Rapid City, South Dakota until his death in 2003, when she returned to Kirksville.
She was a former member of Sojourners Club, Chapter IG, P.E.O., Saddle Club and Ann Haynes Chapter D.A.R. where she served as Regent from 1978-1980. Mary Ann enjoyed antiques and collected them for many years.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009, in the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Chapel with Reverend Carrol Davenport officiating. Musical selections will be “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” and “Claire de Lune”. Burial will be in the Pleasant Home Cemetery in Worthington, MO.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2009, until the time of the service at the
