Sam L. Murdock 95 of Mendota, Illinois passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Mendota Lutheran Home in Mendota, IL.
The son of John and Marietta (Casteel) Murdock, he was born October 11, 1914 in Lancaster, Missouri. On August 2, 1941 in Kirksville, MO he married Maxine Green who preceded him in death on September 28, 2009.
Sam is survived by one son, David Murdock and wife Mary Beth of Bloomingdale, IL; two brothers, Harold Murdock of Arizona and Olen Murdock of Florida; one sister, Margie of Texas; three grandchildren; one great grandchild and nieces and nephews.
Sam served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received his Masters Degree from Northeast Missouri Sate Teachers College. He taught math and drivers education at Mendota High School for twenty years.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1212, Mendota Golf Club, First United Methodist Church and a past Masonic member.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday (December 23, 2009) at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.
