Melvin “Buster” Schillie
Melvin “Buster” Schillie, 85, of Kirksville, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Twin Pines Adult Care Center. Born September 18, 1924, to Henry and Bertha (Carnagey) Schillie near the Pure Air community in Adair County. On June 9, 1947 in Kirksville he was united in marriage to Lola Jean McFarland who preceded him in death in 2001. Also preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, Leora in infancy and one brother-in-law, Murl Wallace.
He is survived by one brother, Harold Leon Schillie of Novinger; one sister, Norma Wallace of Green Castle, one sister-in-law, Susie Corbett and husband Gene of Kirksville; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Bernice Starks of Kirksville.
Melvin received his education in the Williams Rural School. For forty-three years he worked for Bailey Limestone. He enjoyed blue grass music and attended the First Assembly of God in Kirksville.
Funeral service will be held Monday, February 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Fredricks officiating. Special musical selections will be “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross”. Burial will be at Parkview Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Parker Osborn, Gale Rusk, Virgil Dean Rusk, Dickie McFarland, James McFarland, and Ken Lindsey.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Monday, at the
