William “Bill” Bachman, 64 of Kirksville, passed away Wednesday (February 3, 2010) at his home.
The only child of Bina Lee Bachman and Mildred (Sullivan) Morrison, he was born March 31, 1945 in Long Beach, California. On March 3, 1966, in Kirksville, he was united in marriage to Linda Veach.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda; three children, Shawn Wiles and husband Vaughan of Greenville, NC, Robert Lee Bachman of Hannibal, MO, and Joshua Bachman of Columbia, MO; one grandchild, Amaya Wiles; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special family friends, including the Hubbard family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill grew up in Long Beach, California where he received his education. He later received his GED and attended college in the Sacramento, CA area. While making his home in Novinger, he was an over-the-road truck driver for twenty-five years, which gave him the opportunity, through his travels, to visit some of his favorite places around the country—casinos and flea markets. He loved life, was full of humor and adventure, and was a collector of everything. However, the thing he enjoyed most in life was spending time with his family.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday (February 6, 2010) at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Virgil Jones officiating. Music will be provided by Lori Craig, who will sing “Serenaded by Angels” and “Amazing Grace”. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.
Pallbearers will be Robert Bachman, Larry Hubbard, Kenny Potter, Jerry Veach, James Scott and Ozzie Baird.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 Friday evening (February 5, 2010) at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
