Arthur L. Jeffries, 58 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away Monday (February 8, 2010) at his home.
The son of Russell and Grovene (Jenkins) Jeffries, he was born September 17, 1951 in Kirksville, Missouri. On June 6, 2009 in Lancaster, Missouri he was united in marriage to Sandra Jackson.
Art is survived by his wife, Sandra; three children, Chris LaMaster and wife Mary of Guilford, MO, Kimberly Abbott and husband Andy of Maryville, MO and Russell Jeffries and friend Samantha Fogle of Kirksville; grandchildren, Garrett and Kaylin LaMaster and Cheree Abbott; one brother, Steven Jeffries of Kirksville; one sister, Susan Swearinger and husband Van of Libby, MT; his aunt, Cleo Davis of Memphis, MO; two step children, Lori Elschlager and husband Stan of Kirksville and Mike Long of Overland Park, KS; step grandchild, Lathen Elschlager; several nieces and cousins, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law and his dog, Skippy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Carol Chambers, brother-in-law, Charles Chambers and nephew, Jason Jeffries.
Art graduated from the Kirksville High School. He went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone where he worked for 30 years until he retired in 2000. He had two passions in life the first was racing and enjoyed racing with his son, Russell; the other was helping people.
He was a member of the Schuyler County Church of Faith. He had a great love for his child and grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (February 13, 2010) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. He will be cremated following the service.
Honorary bearers will be Everett Boltz, Jim Briggs, Sonny Findling, Gary Henness, Timothy Garrett, Bruce Griffin, Randy Harrison, Larry Pipes, Dick Weber and Stan Elschlager.
Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer funeral Home
