James “Jim” Edward Hatfield, 61 of Hurdland passed away Monday (February 15, 2010) at Quincy Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
The son of Gile Nation and Virginia Bernice (Bowen) Hatfield, he was born October 31, 1948 west of Greensburg, Missouri. On May 28, 1972 in Monticello, MO he was united in marriage to Diana Marie Helfrich and to this union three children were born.
Jim is survived by his three children, Rayetta Sharpe and husband Daniel of Ewing, MO, Paul Raymond Hatfield of Keokuk, IA and James William (J.W.) Hatfield of Hurdland, MO; three grandchildren, Ryan Sharpe, Paul Raymond Hatfield Jr., and Nichole Lynn Hatfield; one sister, Norma Brownell of Hurdland, MO and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leon (Lonnie) and Gile (Sonny) Hatfield; three sisters, Jeanette Barnes, Lela Yoakum and Lilly Ann Miller and one nephew, Lyle Jasper Hatfield.
Jim received his education in the Edina schools. He worked as a truck driver, machine operator and mechanic. He enjoyed playing the drums and played in the family band, the Country Rebels. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and loved spending time with his family.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (February 20, 2010) at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Harrison officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O. F. Cemetery in Hurdland, MO.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Hatfield, Eugene Hatfield, Betty Jenkins, Kenny Jenkins, Jimmy Dean Head and Michael McClanahan. Honorary bearers will be Raelene Basico, David Basico, Daniel Sharpe, Randy Walton, Leon McCarty and Dale Hatfield.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday (February 19, 2010) at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
