Robert Lee Brower 76, of Queen City passed away Thursday night February 18, 2010 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
He was born in Houston, Missouri on November 12, 1933. On June 2, 1973 at LaPlata, Missouri he was united in marriage to Margaret (Mitchell) Gregory who survives.
Also surviving are three step children: William (Bill) Gregory and wife Debbie of LaPlata, Missouri, Donald Leon Gregory of Queen City, Missouri and Mary (Gregory) Adams and husband Neal of Lawrence, Kansas; eight step grand children; Jennie Knighton and husband Jeff, Carrie Gregory, Amanda Hatfield and husband John, Molly Lang and husband Zach, Jacci Gregory, Jackie Durham and husband Billy, Misty Arnold and Calvin Snyder and Krysta Arnold; fourteen step great grand children and several cousms.
He was preceded in death by his mother, his grandfather Weaver Brower who raised Robert from birth, two step grandchildren Timmy Adams and Jared Gregory.
Robert lived in Houston, Missouri until the age of six when he moved with his grandfather to Queen City. He attended Queen City Elementary school and the Queen City High School graduating with the Class of 1953. He was a handy man to many of the residents of Queen City. He was always busy with yard work, gardening and for many years dug graves for the funeral homes in the area. He was very handy with working with wood and made a lot of cabinets and built several houses in Queen City. He enjoyed going on the bus tours and he and Margaret attended lots of Blue Grass Festivals. He was a lover of cats and had several special ones during the years.
Robert was a member of the Queen City Baptist Church where he was a faithful member.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday (February 22, 2010) in the Dooley Funeral Chapel with Brother Bill Smathers officiating. Musical selections will be "Lifes Railway To Hleaven" and "How Great Thou Art". Interment will be in the LaPlata Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Hatfield, Jeff Knighton, Billy Durham, Calvin Snyder, Zach Lang and Jerry Carr.
Public visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Sunday (February 21, 2010) with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 that evening in the
