Peggy (Peg) Salter

Peggy (Peg) A. Salter, 71, of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010, at the Kirksville Manor Care Center in Kirksville, MO.

The daughter of Leslie Birch and Dorothy (Evans) Biehl, Peg was born April 28, 1938 in Queen City, MO. On December 26, 1957 in Queen City, MO she was united in marriage to James Salter who preceded her in death on March 27, 1994.

Also preceding her in death were her parents and one great-niece, Melissa Jo Biehl.

Peg is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, J. and Janice Biehl of Kirksville, MO; one nephew, Larry Biehl; one niece, Sheri Cassady; three great-nieces, Lacy Jean Biehl, Lara Lea Biehl and Calee Cassady and one great-nephew, Calbe Cassady.

Peg was reared in the Queen City, MO area where she attended the Queen City public schools, graduating from the Queen City High School with the Class of 1956. She attended Kirksville State Teachers College for two years. Peg lived in Florida from 1963 to 1989 when she returned to Kirksville. She had worked in nursing for five years and was a sales clerk for ten years in Florida. Peg was a member of the First Christian Church in Kirksville where she had sung in the choir. Before her health failed, she did volunteer work for R.S.V.P.

A graveside service and burial will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the Queen City Cemetery in Queen City, MO, with Reverend John Dugan officiating.

There will be no visitation.

The family has suggested memorials to the First Christian Church. Contributions may be left at or sent to the
