Mary Palmer, 81 of Kirksville passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the Twin Pines Adult Care Center.
The daughter of Levi and Eleen (Rhoads) Williams, Mary was born October 20, 1928 in Ethel, Missouri. In 1948 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas she was united in marriage to L. T. Schmidt who preceded her in death. To this union one daughter, Mickey Hills, was born. On June 15, 1966 in Caseyville, Missouri she was united in marriage to Theodore C. (Ted) Palmer, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mickey Hills and husband Allan of Kirksville, Kathy Adkins and husband, Bill of Kirksville, and Peggy McClelland of Jacksonville, NC; nine grandchildren, Christina Boling, Shelly, Jonathan and Lindsey Hills, Joshua (Josh) Hale, Kara Lay and Colin, Carson and Carmen McClelland and four great-grandchildren, Audrey Boling, Taylor Hale, Trevlar Lay and Mila Hale.
Mary was reared in the Ethel, MO area where she attended school, graduating from the Ethel High School. After her marriage they moved to Callao, MO where she worked as a bookkeeper at the MFA. She moved to Ewing, MO and worked for the P&S Clinic in Quincy, IL until she retired. Mary recently moved to Kirksville to be near her family.
She was a long time active member of the Ewing Baptist Church and the Prison Ministry. Currently she was a member of the Hamilton Street Baptist Church in Kirksville. Mary liked to cook, crochet and she loved to fish.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Jackson and Reverend Tim Smith officiating. Music will be provided by David Parrish singing, “Victory In Jesus” and “Jesus Is The Sweetest Name I Know” accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Burial will be in the Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.
Pallbearers will be Carl Brightwell, Roy Reichert, Larry Thompson, Richard Porter, Dana Brown and Simon Thrower.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
