Audrea Lee Lyons, 86, of Kirksville passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
The daughter of Clint and Dalie (Doze) Myers, Audrea was born March 10, 1924 in Kirksville, Missouri. She graduated from Kirksville High School in 1942, and on November 10, of that year, she was united in marriage to Garnett Dale Lyons who survives. They have enjoyed 67 years together.
She is also survived by four children; her daughter, Ginny Sevits and husband, Charlie; her son Gerald and wife, Sandy Kay; her son Bobby and wife, Diana; her daughter Greta and partner Denis Marrero; eleven grandchildren, Jami Sevits and wife Janine, Tammi Sevits, Daini Farris and husband Jody, Jermey Lyons, Jackie Potter and friend Jennifer Gillen, Jamie Potter and wife Tiffany, Janie Kay Potter, Lisa Speaks, Steven Lyons and wife Hillary, Terry Lyons and Trisha Lyons; and 25 great grandchildren, Jake and Joel Sevits, Lola Sevits, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Brady and Justin Farris, Kaitlyn and Cierra Lyons, Leticia, Raegan, Kaylynn, Ethan and Daiman Potter, Cody, Chauncey, Cameron and Keaton Potter, Anthony Sanders, Wyatt and Caleb Pritchett, Chayton and Chandler Speaks, Acie Jo Stewart, Dawsyn, Ryder and Beckett Lyons.
Audrea was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Greta Kolberg and two brothers, Ross and Gerald Myers.
Audrea and Garnett lived for 23 years in the Mulberry community and she taught Sunday school at the Mulberry Church. She was a leader of the Mulberry 4-H Club. For the majority of her career, she worked in the medical records field at Laughlin , KOH, and Grim-Smith Hospitals, and was the Coordinator of Admissions and Communications at Grim-Smith Hospital. Audrea was on the Tumor Board Registy and was a Medical Records Consultant in many area nursing homes.
Audrea was on board of several area agencies including the Silver Haired Legislature; the American Red Cross; Adair County Ambulance District and the NEMO Area Agency on Aging. She enjoyed volunteer work and together with Garnett, gave many years of service to her community.
She was a long time member of Women of the Moose, Kirksville Chapter #824. She held several offices and received her Academy of Friendship Degree, Star Recorder Degree, College of Regents Degree and was Missouri State Deputy Grand Regent.
Audrea was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, dancing with her husband, working in her flower garden, watching the birds and cooking for family gatherings. She has blessed her families lives and will be sorely missed.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Coonfield officiating. Music will be provided by Lanna Novinger singing “In The Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross”, accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. A taped selection “Go Rest High On That Mountain” by Vince Gill will be played. Burial will be in the Mulberry Cemetery, northwest of Kirksville, Missouri.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Lyons, Bobby Lyons, Charles Sevits, Jami Sevits, Jermey Lyons, Steven Lyons and Terry Lyons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jake and Joel Sevits, Chayton and Chandler Speaks, Jody and Brady Farris.
Visitation with the family will be from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 in the chapel of the
