Richard Dale McCormick 62, Of Queen City passed away Friday (June 25, 2010) in the Schuyler County Nursing Home where he had been a resident two years.
The son of Alfred and Anna Lou (Wheeler) McCormick, he was born on August 3, 1947 at Kirksville, Missouri. In September of 1973 at Queen City he was united in marriage to Cheryl Cooper and to this marriage two daughters were born. On August 8, 1985 at Queen City he was married to Tracy Tibbits and five children were born to this marriage.
Surviving are his children, Michelle Cunningham and husband Mark of Unionville, MO, Kimberley Steen and husband Keith of Lancaster, MO, Richard McCormick Jr. of Niceville, FL, Wayne McCormick and wife Amelia of Belmond, IA, Marlene McCormick of Belmond, IA and Joseph McCormick of Downing, MO; two brothers, Harold Aldridge of Mystic, IA and Donald McCormick and wife Debbie of Greentop, MO; six grand children, Calvin Yardley, Emily Cunningham, Alyssa Steen, Keith Steen Jr., Caila McCormick and Brandon McCormick and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant son.
Richard grew up in Schuyler County with the exception of five or six years spent in Seattle, Washington. The family returned to Lancaster where he attended and graduated from the Lancaster High School with the Class of 1966. He attended Trenton Junior College before being drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam. He was awarded several medals and the Bronze Star. Following his discharge he worked for Standard Registrar, Road Construction, Rogers Trucking, Supervisor for Sheltered Work Shop in Kirksville and over the road truck driver.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday (June 29, 2010) at 2:00 p.m. in the Dooley Funeral Chapel with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Musical selections will be, "You Can Let Go" and "Daddy's Hands". Interment with military rites will be in the Tarr Cemetery west of Queen City.
Pallbearers will be, Richard Aldridge, Rex Aldridge, Jeff Aldridge, Brian Jones, Jeremy Aldridge and Jason Aldridge.
Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the
Dooley Funeral Home
