Larry Tomich

Larry Tomich 52, of Kirksville passed away Saturday (July 10, 2010) in Sweet Springs, MO where he was preparing for a sprint car race.
The son of Edward Tony and Geneva Ruth (Jones) Tomich, he was born September 16, 1957 in Kirksville, Missouri. He was raised in Kirksville and attended the Kirksville Schools, graduating with the class of 1975. After graduation he established Tomich Construction that he owned and operated until the time of his death.
Larry greatly enjoyed driving his #86 sprint car and was known by his racing friends as “Twinkle Toes”. He raced in Pittsfield, IL and later in Sweet Springs, MO where he made many friends and fans. He was always willing to act as a mentor for those interested in racing. He also enjoyed flying his remote controlled airplane and was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. He was a master mushroom hunter and enjoyed following NASCAR, barbecue grilling and deer hunting. He was a member of the Buzzard Gulch Aero Modelers club.
Larry is survived by his mother, Ruth Tomich of Kirksville; two sisters, Marilyn Bohon and husband Chris of Tucson, AZ and Connie Becker of Adrian, MO; two nephews, Brett Bohon of Kirksville and Ryan Bohon and wife Laura of St. Louis, MO; two great nephews and a special friend, Pam Richmond of Kirksville.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday (July 14, 2010) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Father Bill Kottenstette officiating. Burial will be in Mary Immaculate Catholic Cemetery in Kirksville.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Bohon, Brett Bohon, John Smith, Bud Payne, Paul Mihalevich and Kevin Goodwin. Honorary bearers will be Alan Motley, Cary Barrows, Cliff Douglas, and Kevin Buck.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday (July 13, 2010) at
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
