Mary Elizabeth Schnelle

Mary Elizabeth Schnelle, 86, of Pollock, MO, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Putnam County Memorial Hospital.
Mary was born in Topeka, KS, on January 19, 1924, to Ernest Frederick Lester and Mary Elizabeth (Kennedy) Lester, who preceded her in death.
Mary Beth attended Washburn University. She married William Aaron Schnelle on September 5, 1944, at her parents’ home in Topeka. In 1945, William brought her home to the Schnelle family farm, located west of Pollock, where they resided until present day.
To this union two sons were born; William Frederick, who proceeded her in death on April 9, 2010, and Thomas Carl of Camden Point, MO.
Over the years Beth worked at F. M. Stamper Co. in Milan and volunteered at the Putnam County Library and was a 4-H leader. She was an avid reader and well versed on any subject. She was appreciated for her unique sense of humor and her love of country and family.
Mary Elizabeth is survived by her husband, William of Pollock, her son, Carl and his wife Juanita, of Camden Point, MO; daughter-in-law, Cherie of Pollock, plus ten grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Kennedy Lester.
Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Schnelle will be held at the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, on Monday, July 19. Visitation will be Sunday, July 18 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Mary Elizabeth’ cremains will be interred at a later date in a private ceremony at the Plainview Cemetery.
