Bobby (Bob) Dabney, 87 of Kirksville passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
The son of Clifford and Eva (Perry) Dabney, he was born July 2, 1923 in Kirksville, Missouri. On November 26, 1948 in Kirksville he was united in marriage to Carolyn Moore.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carolyn; one son, Greg Dabney and wife Anna of Kirksville; one daughter, Linda Dabney of Columbia, MO; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Donna Henry and friend Bob Wooten of Bolivar, MO; three nieces, one nephew, and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob grew up in Kirksville where he attended school and graduated from Kirksville High School with the class of 1941. He went to work at International Shoe Factory in 1943 where he worked for 45 years until he retired in 1988.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kirksville. He loved animals, especially the many pet dogs he cared for over the years. He was a very dedicated father and grandfather, always making himself available to support his children and grandchildren; always taking great pride in his family. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing and never once failed to honor his children’s or grandchildren’s requests to take them on outings.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday (July 21, 2010) at the Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.
Visitation will be held Wednesday until the time of the service.
