Ilene Johnson, 89, of Unionville, MO passed away at the Putnam County Care Center on August 19, 2010.
Ilene Johnson was born on September 24, 1920 in Putnam County, the daughter of Daniel Butler and Nellie Francis (Lloyd). Ilene married Russell Webster on March 17, 1937 in Unionville, MO and 4 children were born to this union. She was a member of the Unionville First Christian Church being baptized on December 3, 1961. Ilene was a very active lady, always ready to go. She enjoyed numerous outings including country music jamborees, her Tuesday morning ladies bible study, and traveling to Hawaii. One of her favorite trips was to London with a dear friend, Eileen Fowler. The Christmas season was special to Ilene. She loved hanging lights to brighten her street corner. Her neighbors would have to close their blinds in order to sleep, but Ilene never minded the increase in her electric bill. Ilene also enjoyed gardening, but her favorite thing of all was to go on a ride with her 4 daughters followed by dinner.
Ilene is survived by daughters, Arabelle Carter and husband Clark, Darlene Casady and husband Larry, Janice Bowman and husband Howard, all of Unionville, MO, and Ruscella Sanders and husband Rodney of Pollock, MO. Ilene’s surviving grandchildren are Craig Carter and wife Rose, Scott Carter and wife Diane, Brad Casady and wife Monica, Roger Sanders and friend Shayla, Ryan Sanders, Rick Sanders and fiancé Kayla, Diana Lowry, Cindy Reasbeck and husband Jack, Jennifer Roman and husband Eric, Jackie Heater and husband Bob, Stephanie Hawkins and husband Tim, Jamie Lewis and husband Lynn, and Tanya Mitchell and husband Joel. Ilene has 27 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother-in-law Lenard Johnson, sister-in-law Rita Johnson, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ilene was preceded in death by sisters Reva Davis, Neva Jarmin, Alfreda Eddy, Cleo Robinson, infant twin sisters, and a 3 year old sister. Brothers preceding her in death include Duane Butler, Junior Butler, and Walace Butler.
Memorials for Ilene are suggested to the Putnam County Memorial Hospital, Putnam County Care Center, or the Unionville First Christian Church and may be entrusted to the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
