Roger Lee Kent
1953-2010
Roger Lee Kent, 57, of Kirksville, formerly of Queen City, passed away Wednesday August 25, 2010, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville. Roger was battling Adult Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) for a short time.
Roger is the son of Orrist and Rena (Richmond) Kent. He was born June 15, 1953 in Unionville, MO. On July 4, 1985 he was united in marriage to Cynthia Skogsberg and to this marriage 3 children were born. Roger is survived by his 4 children, Aaron Kimber and wife Jennifer, grandchildren Kierstien, Lexy and Easton of Glenwood, MO, Jesse Lee Kent of Columbia MO, Joshua Gary Skogsberg Kent and Justina Marie Skogsberg Kent of Monticello, KY; one sister, Shirley Ann Bergman of Kirksville, 4 nephews and 3 nieces, Jim Bergman and wife Pam, Jeff Bergman, Steve Colton all of Kirksville and Leon Colton and Sherry Lynn Colton of Columbia MO, Alicia Purchase of Kirksville, and Diane Colton of Iowa; uncle Leon and aunt Maxine Schmitter of Queen City; as well as many cousins, great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Larry Colton and Gary Colton.
Roger was a Schuyler County graduate in 1972. He worked at Standard Register for approximately 20 years. After that Roger then found his passion of driving a school bus. He had the pleasure of doing that for 10 years.
Roger loved life. He loved people and making them laugh, (what a practical joker he was). He enjoyed music, hunting, cooking, and spending as much time as possible with his children and their families. Every Holiday he looked forward to eating Aunt Maxine's homemade fudge! One of his proudest moments was deer hunting with his children last season and watching his daughter Justina (Rogers shooting buddy) getting her first deer. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, being Jeff Gordon's #1 fan. One of Rogers favorite sayings are "a man can never have too many friends," and Rog was blessed with many.
We would like to invite everyone to a celebration of life service to be held Sunday (Aug. 29, 2010) from 4 to 6 pm at Dooley Funeral Home in Queen City, to visit with family and friends.
