Marsha Anne Shahan, age 49, of Brashear, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2010, at her home west of Brashear.
She was born June 20, 1961, at Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Darell Dean and Agnes Johnette Pack Perry. She was united in marriage to Johnny Lee Shahan on May 22, 1981, at Edina, Missouri.
Surviving are her husband John of Brashear, Missouri, her mother, Johnette Fleshner and her husband Rex of Brashear, Missouri, two daughters, Jennifer Mathiesen and husband Mike of Foristell, Missouri, Julie Atchley and husband Cody of Kirksville, Missouri, two brothers, Steven Lee Perry of Rose Hill, Mississippi, and Mark Dean Perry of Kirksville, Missouri, an uncle C.A. Pack of Kirksville, Missouri, one sister-in-law, Linda Ritchie and fiancé Doug Kerr of Edina, Missouri, brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Deanna Shahan of Hurdland, Missouri, Gary and Sue Shahan of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and Mark and Charlene Shahan of Kirksville, Missouri, her mother-in-law, Betty Shahan of Edina, Missouri, her father-in-law and his wife Jack and Rebecca Shahan of Okeechobee, Florida, one step sister Debbie Colvin and husband, Doug of Woodson, Illinois and four step brothers, J.J. Fleshner of Keswik, Iowa, Ed Elder of Downing, Missouri, Ted Elder and wife, Marla of Greentop, Missouri and Fred Elder and wife, Lisa of Kirksville, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
Marsha was preceded in death by her father, Darell Perry, maternal grandparents, John and Estelle Pack, paternal grandparents Myron and Mae Perry and step grandmother Marie Perry.
Marsha received her education at Greenwood Elementary and Kirksville Junior and Senior High, graduated from Adair R II School at Brashear, Missouri and received an Associate’s Degree in Business from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. Marsha and John have lived rural Brashear since 1977. She had been employed at Hollister Inc. in Kirksville for twenty-two years and was currently employed at John Gillum CPA in Kirksville, Missouri.
When Marsha was younger she was a member of Fairview 4-H in Kirksville for eight years, a member of Kirksville Trailriders, was Rodeo Queen at the El Kadir Shrine Rodeo and loved to ride horses. She belonged to the ARBA Rabbit Association for fifteen years and had traveled all over the United States showing rabbits. She was also a member of the Assembly of God Church in Edina, MO. She especially enjoyed traveling, shopping, trying new restaurants, and going to the movies. She loved spending time with her smallest companion Eli, her children and family.
Services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2010, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri. Reverend Rick Barnes will officiate the services. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
Music will be provided by Roslyn Baker, organist and Audrey Hamlin and Debbie Peters, soloist singing “How Great Thou Art” along with a congregational hymn “Amazing Grace”.
Casket bearers will be Mark Perry, Steve Perry, Mark Shahan, Joe Shahan, Gary Shahan and Charlie Hamlin.
Honorary bearers will be nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 4, 2010, after 4 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Marsha Shahan may be made to the Assembly of God Church Youth Group and or the American Cancer Society.
