Lloyd Shirley Yearns, 90 of Queen City, formerly of Glenwood passed away early Sunday morning (September 19, 2010) at the Schuyler County Nursing Home where he had been a resident for two and a half years.
The son of Shirley William and Eudora (Lovekamp) Yearns, he was born February 21, 1920, in rural Queen City. On June 10, 1940 in Schuyler County he was united in marriage to Marval Simbro who survives. Also surviving is one son, Doug Yearns and wife Debbie of Anabel, MO; seven grandchildren, Stuart Crockett, Rodney Crockett, Richard Crockett, Robert Crockett, Jason Corder, Melissa Bode, and Crystal Dawkins; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine McBee of Greentop, MO and Bearda Stiles of Ottumwa, IA, and several nieces and nephews.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Shirley Mae Crockett and Diana Corder.
Lloyd was raised east of Queen City and attended the Barr rural school. He started farming with his grandfather, later moving to Glenwood where he continued to farm. In the early 1940's he went to work for the Wabash Norfolk and Western Railroad until retiring in 1982. Following his retirement he served for several years on the Glenwood Election Board.
Lloyd was the care giver for his wife Marvel until physical health forced them to become residents of the Schuyler County Nursing Home.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday (September 24, 2010) in the Dooley Funeral Chapel with Jason Corder officiating. Musical selections will be "'Turn Your Eves Upon Jesus" and “I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You". Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Hill, Brad Hill, Stuart Crockett, Rodney Crockett, Richard Crockett and Robert Crockett. Honorary bears are Wayne Hill, Rusty Simbro, Floyd Stiles, Richard McBee, Joe Knupt and Melvin Howard.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday (September 23, 2010) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m in the
Dooley Funeral Home
