Patricia A. Ernst
Patricia A. Ernst 76 of Kirksville passed away Sunday (September 26, 2010) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center.
The daughter of Vern and Mabel (Shadle) Quail, she was born March 15, 1934 in Sac City, Iowa. On November 17, 1956 in Blue Earth, Minnesota she married Kenn Ernst.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenn on June 7, 2001, one sister and two brothers.
Patricia is survived by two sons, Dr. Tim Ernst and wife Peg of Kirksville and Sean Ernst and wife Susan of Vail, IA; four grandchildren, Sean Ernst and wife Karen, Katie Ernst and fiancée Matthew Meinen, Nicolas Ernst and Tyson Ernst; four great grandchildren, Bre’Anna, Nathan, Aubriana and Isaiah; one brother, Leonard Quail of Sac City, IA; five sisters, Doris Stoffregen of Omaha, NE, Sally Anglum of Sac City, IA, Elaine Mauer of Tujunga, CA, Wilma Straus of Sac City, IA and Josephine Schmidt of Lake View, IA.
Patricia attended school in Sac City, IA where she graduated high school. She attended college in Minneapolis, MN where she became a laboratory technician. She was employed in Fort Dodge, IA before moving to Rockwell City, IA with her husband. In Rockwell City she worked for Dr. Carver and also helped her husband in the operation of Kenn’s Coffee Stop. In 1990 she began working at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA until moving to Kirksville in 1996 where she worked at Northeast Regional Medical Center until she retired.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kirksville and the Order of the Eastern Star in Rockwell City, IA. She greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and her dog, Zorro. She also loved to shop and had a talent for decorating.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (September 29, 2010) at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Beryl Cragg officiating. Musical selections will be “Amazing Grace”, On Eagles Wings” and “I Will Follow You”. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.
Pallbearers will be Sean Ernst, Nicolas Ernst, Tyson Ernst, Jerry Melody, Matthew Meinen and Donald Kinney. Honorary bearers will be Katie Ernst and Karen Ernst.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Church.
