Donna Dixon, 73, of Unionville, MO passed away suddenly at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010.
Donna Dixon was born in Unionville, MO on July 13, 1937, the daughter of Jay Gray and Mary (Johnson.) Donna graduated from Putnam County High School in 1955. Donna worked as a bookkeeper for years and then transitioned to accounting and banking. Donna married later in life to Shelby Dixon on November 15, 1997 in Unionville, MO. She was a talented bowler in her days and has always enjoyed entertaining on the stage. Donna attended of the Broadlawn Baptist Church and Baptist Women’s Group. She also entertained in song by participated with the local Keynote Singers. One of Donna’s greatest joys was being grandmother to Nash & Carli. She was very active in their lives and cared for them often. Donna was mostly known by her consistent happy disposition.
Donna is survived by her husband, Shelby Dixon of the home and four children. Her surviving daughters are Brenda Carr and husband Steve of Lawson, MO, Debbie Clark and husband Bradley of Centerville, IA, and Sonya Robison and husband Rob of Unionville, MO. Her surviving son is Brad Dixon of Unionville, MO. Donna’s surviving grandchildren include Derek Carter and fiancée Stacey Devore, Brittani Dixon, Nash Robison, and Carli Robison. Donna’s surviving great grandchild is Aiden Carter. Surviving brothers are Joe Gray of Newman, GA and Jack Gray of Altoona, FL. Niece Judy McDonald and nephew Orval Spence survive along with several nephews and nieces.
In addition to Donna’s parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Enid Gray, Royland Brundage, and Valdean Womack and brothers-in-law Bob Brundage and Ora Womack and nephew-in-law Marvin McDonald.
Services for Donna Dixon will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home on Thursday, October 7, at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, MO.
Memorials for Donna are suggested to the family and may be entrusted with the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th Street, Unionville, MO 63565.
