Lavella Frances Cornelison, 92 of Kirksville passed away Monday (October 11, 2010) at the Kirksville Manor Care Center.
Frances was born on October 5, 1918 in Memphis, MO, the daughter of Joe and Stella Sparks Heavlin. On June 8, 1936 in Memphis, MO she was united in marriage to David Gurney Cornelison who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three daughters, Margaret in infancy, Sue Danner in 2002, Sharon Blodgett in 2006 and one brother, Harold W. Lee.
Frances is survived by one son, Gary Lee Cornelison of Kirksville; one daughter, Genita Kirkpatrick and husband Ray of Kirksville; fourteen grandchildren, Ellen Sue Peacock and husband Charles, David Ross Kirkpatrick and wife Pam, Donna Vincent and husband John, Douglas Blodgett, Rebecca Brown and husband David, Raella Shrouf and husband Jackie, John Blodgett and wife Lisa, Jeff Blodgett and wife Amy, Kelly Thompson and husband Mark, Shellie Blodgett, Sandra Sue Moody and husband Steve, John Danner and wife Pam, Carri Lane and husband Don and Kathi Stafford and husband Tony; twenty seven great grandchildren and fourteen great great grandchildren.
Frances moved to Kirksville when she was three years old. She attended the Kirksville Schools. She was devoted to raising her children. She made all of her children’s clothes and was a wonderful cook. She won awards at the county fair for her cooking and canning. She loved working in the garden, playing pitch, traveling, Genealogy and arguing.
Frances was a member of the Hamilton Street Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday (October 15, 2010) at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Virgil Jones and Reverend Charles Jackson officiating. Musical selections will be “Faded Love”, “I’ll Met You in the Morning” and “One More Day”. Interment will be in the Highland Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, John Blodgett, Jeff Blodgett, Doug Blodgett, David Ross, John Danner and Swade Cornelison. Honorary bearers will be Charles Peacock, Eddie Roop and Curtis Ballanger.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
