Dorothy Ione Bloskovich, age 88, of Kirksville, MO passed away October 20, 2010, at Twin Pines Adult Care Center, surrounded by her family. Born October 4, 1922, in the Porter School community north of Kirksville, she was the daughter of Fred Albert and Lottie (Hart) Brenz. On January 10, 1942, she married Jack Bloskovich in Kirksville.
She is survived by one daughter, Glinda Crawford and husband Richard of rural Kirksville; one son, Brian and wife Diane (Selby) of rural Greentop; three grandchildren, Melanie Crawford of rural Kirksville, Bransen Bloskovich and wife Leigh of Edmond, OK, and Brennen Bloskovich of rural Greentop; two great granddaughters, Berkley and Henley Bloskovich of Edmond, OK; one sister, Ruthirene Griffin of Jacksonville, OR; nephew, Russ Wells and wife Sharry and family of Florissant, MO; niece, Susan Griffin of Medford, OR and nephew, Jeff Griffin of Eugene, OR.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one sister, Thelma Louise Wells Glassburner.
Dorothy was raised in Kirksville where she received her education, graduating from Kirksville Senior High School in 1940. She was a long time resident of Kirksville and was employed 32 years at the International and Florsheim Shoe Company.
Jack and Dorothy spent 27 winters in South Texas, enjoying fishing, friends, and warm weather. Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as deacon. Prior to her passing she had the longest membership of any current member at 78 years.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a caring neighbor and friend, and a loyal and active church member. She had many hobbies: traveling, camping, painting, making a house a home, reading, collecting recipes, cooking, visiting, growing and arranging flowers. She was a story teller of family and local history with roots in Adair County extending to 1851.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Saturday, October 23, with the Reverend Michael McCormack officiating. Visitation with the family will be immediately prior from 1-2 p.m. A private family burial will be held at Ft. Madison Cemetery.
