Dennis Dunlap, 60, of rural Unionville, MO, passed away at this home on November 2, 2010, after a three year battle with various health issues.
Dennis Gene Dunlap was born in Kirksville, MO, on November 16, 1949, the son of Eugene and Janice (Guy) Dunlap. He grew up in Green City, MO, and graduated from Green City High School in 1967. He served his country in the Army and then attended truck driving school. After school, Dennis began a career as a truck driver, driving for Norris Asphalt out of Ottumwa, IA, until switching to road construction with the same company. Poor health caused him to ultimately leave this job.
On November 25, 1995, he married Linda Cowan in Unionville, MO, and she survives at home. Dennis liked deer hunting and fishing. He enjoyed the country life and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Green City United Methodist Church.
Others who survive Dennis include his mother, Janice Booth, of Green City, MO; two sons, Nathan Dunlap of the state of Oregon and Timmy Dunlap of Kirksville, MO; and two daughters, Kelly Dunlap and Amy Owings, both of Kirksville, MO. Four step-daughters also survive: Barb Andrews and Darlene Stottlemyre, both of Unionville, MO; Deanna Cossolotto of Moravia, IA; and Ferne Anderson of McPherson, KS. A brother, Douglas Dunlap of Greentop, MO, survives as well.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial services for Dennis Dunlap will be at Playle & Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, on Monday, November 8, 2010, at 7:00 pm. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Dennis’ cremains will be interred at a later date.
