John White
John Dean White, 83, Bettendorf, Iowa, died Nov 4, 2010 at ManorCare Nursing Home, Bettendorf. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov 8th at St. John Cemetery, Livonia, Missouri. Playle & Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, Missouri is in charge of the service.
Mr. White was born on September 9th, 1927 to Ernest & Elva White in rural Lancaster, Missouri. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1944. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1944 to 1945 in Belgium. Military decorations and citations include the Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal Germany and a marksmanship badge for Expert; M-1. He married Phyllis Pauline West on Apr 24, 1950, in Greentop, Missouri. They later relocated to Bettendorf, Iowa where he worked for Alcoa in the Cold Mill Department, retiring after 39 years of service on January 1st, 1990. He was awarded the Award of Excellence from Alcoa. John was a member of Bettendorf Christian Church. He was a loving man dedicated to his family and his faith.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline; sister, Ruth Sprague formerly of Buffalo, IA; children, Theckla (Bill) Triplett, Livonia, MO., Gail Miller, Checotah, OK., Kirk (Jennifer) White, Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren Chelsea Triplett, Kale Triplett, Madelynne Helms and Haleigh White. He was preceded in death by his parents-Ernest & Elva White; brother, Richard White; sisters, Betty Anderson and Mary Deere.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Bettendorf Christian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
