Raymond Laverne Skipper, age 79, passed away Saturday, November 20, at Northeast Missouri Regional Hospital.
Raymond Laverne Skipper was born in Putnam County, MO, on November 9, 1931, the son of John Leroy and Laura Mahala (Cullor) Skipper. On June 10, 1953 he married Lois Louise Deeds in Pennville, MO. Raymond and Louise spent all their married life farming south of Lemons, MO.
Raymond was kind, humble and faithful, and lived his quiet life with integrity and truth. He was a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and a farmer all his life. He was diligent and steadfast in all his endeavors, blessed with wisdom, and was a pillar of strength to those who loved him. Raymond treasured his loving wife Louise and the family they created together. He was a willing servant of Christ who loved to help others, whether family, friend, or stranger. Raymond attended the Green City Assembly of God Church, was a member of the American Legion, and received a county award for excellence in farming in 1977.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Lois Louise (Deeds) Skipper; his daughters Linda Rouse and Deb Cullum; and his son-in-law Kenny Rouse.
Raymond was preceded in death by his father, John Leroy Skipper; his mother, Laura Mahala (Cullor) Skipper; his brothers, Herbert, James, Gerald; his sisters, Mary Opal, Wilma (Skipper) Ulrich; his son-in-law, Joe Cullum; his father-in-law, Charles Deeds; and his mother-in-law, Vera (Long) Deeds.
Raymond is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer (Rouse) Kosa and husband, Steve, with children Sam and Mahala; Chris Rouse and wife, Jenny; Tim Rouse and wife, Amanda; Matt Cullum and wife, Lyndsay, with children Harper and Emerson; Josh Cullum and wife Emily.
The visitation and funeral will be held at 1:00 and 2:00 pm, respectively, on Tuesday, November 23, at Playle-Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, Missouri. Burial will follow at Lemons Cemetery. The family has requested donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in lieu of flowers and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
