Jimmie Edward Eitel, 80, of western Adair County, passed away Thursday (December 9, 2010) at his home.
He was born January 4, 1930, in western Adair County, the son of Phillip Harrison and Emily Francis (Terrell) Eitel. On August 15, 1953, in Columbia, MO, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Marie Jones, who survives.
He is also survived by a daughter, Charol Goff and husband Doug of Ft. Mill, S.C.; son, Glen Eitel and wife Lori of rural Green Castle, MO; daughter, Marilyn Eagen and husband Gary of House Springs, MO; and daughter, Jean Dudgeon of Kirksville, MO; a brother, John Robert Eitel and wife Jane of rural Novinger, MO; grandchildren, Kyle Eitel and wife Leslie of Quincy, IL; Ethan Eitel of Kansas City, MO and fiancé Amanda Jackson of Tulsa,OK; Christopher Eitel of Quincy, IL; Jessica Dillon and husband Chad of Peoria, IL; Joseph Eagen and wife Connie of St. Charles, MO; Heather Eagen and Alissa Eagen of House Springs, MO; Kesha Cagle and husband Andy of Ft. Mill, S.C.; and Lara Jessee and husband Dustin of Ft. Mill, S.C.; eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Phil Ellis Eitel, and son-in-law Todd Dudgeon.
Jimmie attended the Maple Grove Rural School and graduated from Kirksville High School in 1947. He attended KSTC for one year before entering the U.S. Army in 1951 and was discharged in 1953, serving during the Korean War. Jimmie was a successful cattle farmer and he and Evelyn resided on the same farm his entire life. Farming was his chosen vocation but his faith and family were always most important. He loved to visit with people and never met a stranger. He was a member of the Pure Air Baptist Church.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (December 12, 2010) at the Davis-Playle-Hudson- Rimer Funeral Home. Pastor Dennis Huskisson will officiate, music will be provided by Dianthe Cable. Special musical selections will be “Amazing Grace” and “O’ Holy Night.” Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Eitel, Ethan Eitel, Christopher Eitel, Joseph Eagen, Chad Dillon, Andy Cagle, and Dustin Jessee. Honorary bearers will be Larry Pittman, Donnie Yantis, Warner Parmley, Sonny Darr, Charles Jones, and Donald Jones.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at
