Alice Lowe

November 5, 1942 — March 9, 2025

Kirksville, MO

Alice Mae Lowe, 82, passed away Sunday March 9, 2025, in her home in Kirksville MO. Alice was born November 5,1942 in Eldora, IA to William Raymond Lowe and Frances Arlene (Winn) Lowe. They proceeded her in death.

Alice spent her adult life in Kirksville MO. She and her good friend Frieda Griggs shared a home with the assistance of support staff for over 25 years. Alice had many good friends. They treated each other as family. Alice is survived by her family of friends Frieda, Bertha, Richard, Rollie, Billy, JD, Jason and Jenna Beth. Family of friends preceding her in death include Joyce, James, Ronnie, Danny, Jackie and her boyfriend David. These are just a few of Alice’s family of friends. There are too many to mention. You know who you are. Never forget, Alice loved you very much.

Alice worked a great many years for Community Options Sheltered Workshop. She worked there until she retired. Alice enjoyed her job. She inserted flyers in the Crier and assembled masks. Alice enjoyed socializing with her co-workers even more.

Alice enjoyed embroidering and coloring beautiful pictures. She liked watching Western’s on TV. She especially liked John Wayne. Music and moving to it was another favorite activity of Alice’s. Back in the day she was quite a dancer. Always the social butterfly, Alice was the first to dance and last person to leave. Alice also liked going to the SB 40 Community Learning Center. Her favorite activities there were crafts, bingo and socializing with her friends. Alice worshipped at the Kirksville First Church of God. Alice was a valued and loved member of the church family. Her cheerful and loving presence will be missed.

The last two years Alice had the opportunity to attend the conference “Real Voices, Real Choices” at Tantara, MO. It was a highlight of her life. Alice’s staff report that she never stopped talking about it. It sounds like it was a “highlight” for the support staff that accompanied her as well. Alice was like that, a “highlight” to those that had the opportunity to spend time with her. Alice was a beautiful person inside and out who loved others unconditionally. She will be dearly missed.
