Allen "Wayne" Jackson

February 25, 1943 — February 14, 2018

Allen “Wayne” Jackson passed away February 14, 2018 at Northeast Regional in Kirksville with his wife Linda by his side.

Wayne was born February 25, 1943 in Grundy County Missouri. He was the son of Doris (Baugher) Jackson and Dalton Jackson, and the brother of Phyllis (Jackson) Van Vleck who all preceded him in death. He was married in 1982 to Linda (Bausell) Jackson who survives.  He is also survived by his two brothers Leroy and Phillip Jackson and many nieces and nephews

Shortly after Wayne was born he moved to Kansas City where his father worked building Bombers for the war effort.  He then moved with his family to a farm near Browning, Missouri.  They then moved to a farm near Winigan, Missouri in Adair County.  He was baptized at the Winigan Baptist Church and was devoted to his Christian faith throughout his life.  He attended three one room schools (Kent, Willow Branch, and Morelock). He then attended Benton School after his parents moved to Kirksville.  He graduated from Kirksville Senior High School.

Wayne worked at the local Ford dealership in the garage for 30 years. First known as Miller Ford and later Reiser Ford.  Wayne was an avid Indian Relic collector.  He spent many weekends out walking fields and creeks searching for arrowheads.  He amassed a collection that included several thousand points and dozens of other artifacts.  He had a great memory and you could point to a piece in his collection and he would recall where and when he found it in detail.

Wayne was also a champion weightlifter.  He won the Teenage Nationals in Olympic style weightlifting.  He went on to win 5 state championships as well.  He belonged to the Jackson Weightlifting Club with his brother Phil.  At one time they had over two dozen members and won state team titles.  Wayne was always the anchor of the team.  He held numerous records at the state level and won many competitions.

Wayne was always one to encourage others. He was very close to his brother Phil Jackson as well as his nephew Thom Van Vleck.  If you want to know what kind of a person Wayne was we think this sentiment sums him up.  Phil once said of Wayne, “If everyone were like Wayne there would be no wars, no poverty, and no one would go unloved”.  He was a gentle giant that always had a kind word.

Wayne’s wife, Linda, allowed him to live out his final days in the comfort of his home.  She took care of him 24/7 and his family is very grateful for her hard work and the love she showed to Wayne.

Wayne was always a very humble person.  His final request was that no public service be held although the family will gather for a private service later in the spring when his cremated remains are interred.  His family would like to thank everyone for all the kind words that have been said.   This world was a better place having had Wayne Jackson live in it.  God has a new training partner.
