Alva Lewis Boggs

Alva Lewis Boggs, 64, of Seymour, IA passed away suddenly in his home due to failing health on Friday, January 18, 2019.

Alva’s Funeral Service will be at the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:30am with visitation beginning one hour prior to his service. Interment will follow at the Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour, IA.

Alva Boggs was born on September 2, 1954, the son of Donald and Hazel (Williams) Boggs. On January 14, 1983 Alva wisely spent the best $10.00 of his life and married Marilyn Johnson at the courthouse in Unionville, MO. Alva’s lifelong career was focused on the transportation industry, owning and operating Southern Iowa Transportation Company and Johnson Tire and Auto Center. Alva even ran grain trucks on his down time to help out local farmers, including his son, during harvest. Alva will be mostly remembered for the effort he took to get his entire family to go out to dinner on a regular basis.

Alva Boggs is survived by his wife, Marilyn of the home and 6 children; Michelle DeVore and husband Jim of Centerville, IA; Shawn William Boggs and wife Lakisha of Fountain, CO; Anthony Boggs and fiancé Jenny Bowser of Seymour, IA; Mickie Casteel of Seymour, IA; Mary Ann Boggs of Seymour, IA; & Justin Boggs and wife Janette of Seymour, IA. Alva’s surviving grandchildren are Brandon Seim, Ivory Boggs, Abby Harrington, Makaila Casteel, Josh Harder, Jaden Peters, Maddison Casteel Elizabeth Harder, Will Boggs, Riley Henry, Maverick Casteel, Nicholas Rossell, and six step grandchildren, Kaibnee, Shaylee, Austen, Jakoby, Owen, and Renegade Hampton. Alva’s surviving siblings are brothers, Donnie and David Boggs and sisters, Linda Capps, Faye Moots, and Mary Boggs-Hoffman.

In addition to his parents, Alva was preceded in death by a son, Scottie Boggs; daughter in infancy, Melissa Boggs; brothers, Larry and Jimmy Boggs; and grandpa, Alva Williams.

Memorials for Alva are suggested to the Southlawn Cemetery and may be entrusted to the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
