Ann Giguere

March 27, 1949 — January 15, 2025

Sylvanne “Ann” Sue Cowell Giguere

March 27, 1949 – January 15, 2025

Sylvanne Sue Giguere, lovingly known as Annie, Ann Sue, or simply Ann, passed away on January 15, 2025, due to complications from a fall. She was born in west Queen City, Missouri, at the farmhouse fondly called “Sand Hill,” to Novle W. Cowell and Vera Irene Nason Cowell, who preceded her in death.

Ann married Doug Kollar in 1967, and together they welcomed two daughters, Kim and Kris.

Ann is survived by her devoted husband, Malcolm Giguere; her daughters Kim Baty (Darren) and Kris Beckman (Sam); grandchildren Allison Baty, Carson Baty, and Kate Beckman; stepson Stephen Giguere (Kat) and step-grandsons Greyson and Owen Giguere; and her sister, Donna Cowell Dusenberg (Gary). She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers William (Bill) Cowell and Robert (Bob) Cowell; her sister-in-law Debbie Cowell (Bill); and her beloved grandson Benson Baty.

Ann graduated from Schuyler County R-1 High School in Queen City and earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Truman State University in 1981. She was a true entrepreneur, owning Footsteps Shoe Store and Annie’s Boot Depot. Ann also enjoyed a thriving career in real estate, founding and operating Show Me Realty in Kirksville, Missouri, where she became a leader in the local market. Later, with her husband Malcolm, she extended her passion for real estate, co-owning and managing Show Me Florida Realty.

Ann had a talent for decorating and playing the piano. She shared a 70-year friendship with her childhood friend, Sandi Gosser Hayton, a bond she treasured. In 2001, Ann married the love of her life, Malcolm, on a beach, marking the beginning of a beautiful chapter. Together, they embraced life in Florida until 2022, when the impact of Hurricane Ian prompted their return to Missouri.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM at the Queen City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Queen City Cemetery Association, an organization maintained by dedicated volunteers.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Dooley Funeral home.
