Anna Mae Brown

Anna “Ann” Brown, 76, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville on Thursday, October 31, 2019, where she had been a resident for only a brief time.

Anna Mae (Buford) Brown was born in Boonville, MO, on December 16, 1942, the daughter of Claude E. and Edith R. (Krause) Buford. Ann grew up and attended school in Boonville and graduated from High School there in 1960. She continued her education in the nursing field and later became a dental assistant. Anna married William E. Brown on October 31, 1968, and they had three children: Kent, Ray and Monica.

Anna and William moved to Unionville in 1978 where Ann began her career work at Pratt Dental Office. Anna and William divorced in January of 1991. Ann was involved in all school activities while her children were growing up, from PTO to basketball games. Anytime the kids had friends over she always made them feel welcomed and part of the family, even applying “all house rules” to everyone. Ann also enjoyed reading, planting flowers, and spending time with her grandkids. She also enjoyed working at the food stand during the Putnam County Fair.

Ann is survived by her sons, Kent (Mary) Brown of Murfreesboro, TN, and Ray Brown and Monica (Jerrad) Brown, both of Unionville. Ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive as well as a sister, Juanita (Richard) Knuth of Pace, FL, a brother, Gary Buford of Jefferson City, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James Buford, two sisters, Linda Jordan and Merry Melloway, and a great grandson, Wyatt Alan Brown DeVore.

Funeral services for Ann Brown will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville at 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 3, 2019, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date.
