Anna Marie Griswold

November 6, 1940 — December 14, 2020

Ann Griswold, 80, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away peacefully at the Putnam County Care Center on December 14, 2020.

Anna Marie Griswold was born on November 6, 1940, at home in Buchanan County, Missouri, to Richard and Mayme (Kimber) Wilson.  Ann graduated from Benton High School.  She married John Griswold on December 28, 1974.  Ann was very active in her church, Broadlawn Baptist Church, serving at one time as the Treasurer, and several years as a Sunday school teacher.  Many years ago, she worked at Utility Consultants and excelled at being a homemaker, outstanding cook, and Christmas cookie maker.

Ann had a green thumb and enjoyed both her home garden and the multiple gardens she shared with others throughout Unionville.  She was a devoted dog lover (particularly German Schnauzers) spending many hours walking her dogs in Unionville.  All her life Ann was an avid mushroom hunter and in 1986 the Missouri Department of Conversation awarded her the title of Missouri Master Mushroom Hunter because she had found an 18-ounce morel mushroom in Putnam County.

Ann is survived by her four children:  Linda Unglesbee and husband, Dale of Overland Park, Kansas; Brenda Jacobs and husband, Brian of Unionville, Missouri; Julie McKay of Seymour, Iowa; and John Matthews and wife, Sandra of Smithville, Missouri.  Her surviving grandchildren include Amanda Cullin, Bryan Nigh, Brian Jacobs II, Jesica Jacobs, Jaxon Jacobs, Jodi DeVore, and Cole Matthews.  She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.  Her surviving sibling is Richard Wilson, and wife, Beverly, of Sundance, Wyoming.

In addition to her parents and stepfather Jess Everhart, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, John Griswold; three sisters, Audry Barklage, Hazel Beadle, and Daisy Tridle; grandson, Joshua McKay.

A celebration of life will likely occur in the Spring of 2021 when we can all be together.  Burial will be at the Unionville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Broadlawn Baptist Church, entrusted to the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home:  709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
