Anthony Joseph “Tony” Elliott was born November 8, 1990 in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away on February 21, 2024 in Kirksville, MO. Tony grew up mostly in Downing, MO and graduated from Schuyler R-1 High School with the class of 2009.
Tony is survived by his parents, Scott and Nancy Elliott of Downing, MO, a sister Tacy Elliott, nephews Dallas, Keaton, and Lathan Elliott and niece Skyla Elliott. His grandparents, Junior and Millie Elliott also survive him, along with uncles and aunts Jack and Vicky Gray, Steve Gray, Janie Gray, Mike and Lisa Elliott, and Rod and Laurie Elliott as well as many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother Kerry Elliott, grandparents Harold and Daisy Gray, Uncle Bob Gray, Aunt Wanda Cain and nephew Ryker Elliott.
Tony was baptized at the IMO camp in Stiles, Iowa.
Tony lived in Kirksville, MO for the past several years, where he most recently worked in the cafeteria at Hy-Vee. He had previously worked at Colton’s Steak House in Kirksville and in the cafeteria of the Student Union Building at Truman State University.
His nephew Dallas stayed with him and Tony was proud to be able to take such good care of him and help him with school and homework. He had tremendous love for each of his three nephews and his niece. He was very proud of them all and they meant the world to him.
Tony enjoyed fishing, especially at Rick and Debbie Kelso’s farm pond near Downing. He loved to sit by a fire with friends and family and loved cooking meat on the grill with them during the summers. Tony cherished family get-togethers. He had a penchant for playing video games. He like to watch football games on TV and called himself a cowboys fan, having spent his early childhood in Texas, though the Chiefs had moved well up on his list and might have taken his top spot.
Tony had saved up to buy an e-bike, which he rode to work-no matter the weather- and to wherever else he needed to go. Whenever you saw Tony he always had a smile on his face and wanted to know how you were doing. He always wanted to please others and never wanted anyone to be angry at him. He had a heart of gold and would do anything he could for anyone. Tony could be his own worst enemy and sometimes allowed people to take advantage of his kind heart.
