Arlene Crawford 99 of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Thursday evening, July 8 th , 2021 at Highland Crest Assisted Living, where she had been a resident for three years.

Arlene was born May 8 th , 1922 in Fort Madison, Iowa but was raised in Gibbs, Missouri. She was a graduate of Brashear High School with the class of 1940. She was a member of the Gibbs Christian Church.

On March 23 rd , 1940 Arlene married Myron Crawford. They lived in St. Louis, Missouri for a short time before Myron joined the Army. Arlene moved back to Gibbs, Missouri.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Carol Huseman and husband Norman of Springfield, IL; three grandchildren, Tim Huseman and wife Greta of Springfield, IL, Heidi Harris and husband Brian of Quincy, IL, and Gretchen Dunn and friend Noah Taylor of Olathe, KS; six precious great grandchildren, Alex and Ben Harris, Reagan and Allison Dunn, Henrik and Emma Huseman. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. David (Pat) Hinkle and Mrs. Lowell (Donna) Hinkle and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three sisters.

Arlene was a Dental Assistant for Dr. Stanley Bohon for 24 years and would tell people that he was the best boss ever. She was also employed at the Kirksville Hy-Vee for 12 years. Arlene loved her work as she was a people person!

He favorite thing to do was cook. Making her grandchildren and great grandchildren their favorite foods. Noodles were her specialty. Last Christmas she made noodles for the Highland Crest Christmas family dinner. They were delicious as she was told! Myron enjoyed her chocolate cookies and really everything she cooked! Probably will make them for him in heaven!

Arlene also loved her basketball with North Carolina Tar Heels being her favorite team to watch on TV.

A private graveside service will be held Friday, July 16, 2021 as per her request. Arlene was cremated and her and Myron will be interred together in Park View Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank Highland Crest for their loving care and staff. Arlene really enjoyed playing bingo and working on craft projects.
