Arthur Dee Gillispie 75, of Worthington, MO, passed away Tuesday night September 21, 2021, in the Harry S. Truman Memorial Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
The son of Odessa (Mckee) and Ray Glaspie, he was born July 4, 1946, in Worthington, Missouri. He grew up in Worthington and attended the Worthington and Jimtown Schools. Arthur served in the United States Army from December 4, 1968 until he was honorably discharged August 3, 1970. He worked in Davenport, Iowa for many years as a welder. He then moved back to Worthington and did farming.
Arthur is survived by his children, Tammy Gillispie and Lance of Worthington, MO, Brian Gillispie of Kirksville, MO, and Alvin Shepard of Novinger, MO; two brothers, Mike (Mack) Gillespie of Davenport, IA and Gilbert Glaspie of Jefferson City, MO; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; Vernon Gillespie and Bobby Glaspie, and one sister, Wanda Alfred.
He was a member of the Schuyler County American Legion.
Arthur loved life and he loved his family.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (September 25, 2021) in the Dooley Funeral Home with Paster Paul Crossgrove officiating. Burial with military Honors will be in the Pleasant Home Cemetery in Worthington, MO.
Pallbearers will be Alvin Shepard, Carlos West, Ronnie Glaspie, Mike Woodruff, John Ford, Paul Lusher, and Zachary Robbins. Honorary Bearers will be Hunter Rowland and Kegan Rowland.
Visitation will be after noon Friday (September 24, 2021) with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dooley Funeral Home.
