Bailey Casady

With his family at his side, Bailey Casady, 80, of Kansas City, MO, peacefully passed away at the North Kansas City Hospice House in North Kansas City MO on Saturday, September 2, 2017.

Bailey was born in Omaha, MO on July 23, 1937 to Fon and Vera (Abbott) Casady who proceeded him in death.  Bailey shared his childhood with his sister, Marcia (Casady) Busby who also proceeded him in death.  After attending schools in Putnam County, Bailey joined the United States Army in 1960 and served through 1962, earning his GED before his honorable discharge.  Bailey married Joyce Sexton on May 25, 1962 who proceeded him in death on August 2, 2011.  Early in their marriage Bailey and Joyce operated the Casady’s Café in Unionville, MO.  In 1967, Bailey moved his family to Kansas City, MO.  Bailey and Joyce shared their lives together for fifty years and raised two children and spoiled four grandchildren.  Bailey’s lifelong career was spent as a truck driver.  He and Joyce traveled together as owner operators for ten years, leased to King Transportation.  Bailey retired as a Teamster Union member of thirty years after driving for several union transportation companies.  Bailey was a hard working employee and devoted husband and father.  He always enjoyed the time he spent at home in the swimming pool with his family.  Bailey was a patient man when it came to guiding his family, using common sense and love when giving them advise.  As a father and grandfather, Bailey had two statements he favored in any situation…”if you don’t have nothing nice to say, don’t say nothing at all” and “ treat other people the way you want to be treated by them.”  No matter what life experiences his family shared, Bailey always succeeded in keeping his wife and family at the top of his priority list.

Bailey is survived by his daughter, Lori Carleton Clark and his son, Bailey Joe Casady (fiancé Jodie McKay).  His four grandchildren, Zackery Carleton, Myrriah Clark, Mikaella Casady, and JT Casady, all of Kansas City, MO.  In addition to his immediate family, Bailey leaves his brother in law, Jack Busby and his family, brother-in-law Curtis Sexton and family, brother-in-law Harold Sexton and family, brother-in-law Leroy Sexton and family, brother-in-law Ottis Sexton and family, sister-in-law Jeneva Walters and family, Shiela Isaacs and family, all of whom reside in Greenfield, IN and Indianapolis, IN.
