Betty Rowland 86, of Queen City passed away Monday (June 12, 2017) in the Schuyler County Nursing Home where she had been for about a week.
The daughter of John and Marie (Guffey) Shrake she was born May 7, 1931, in Stahl, Missouri. She attended the Graysville Elementary and the Unionville High Schools.
On May 5, 1951 she was united in marriage to Loren “Bill” Rowland. They lived most of their married life in Putnam County before moving to Queen City in 1994.
Betty worked at the McGraw Edison plant in Centerville, Iowa, for fifteen years and then at the Unionville Hospital for several years until retirement.
She is survived by her husband Bill, two sons Rick Rowland and Tony Lavern Rowland both of Greentop, a sister Brenda Hill of Davenport, Iowa, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Junior Shrake, two sisters; Darlene Shrake and Barbara Shrake.
She was baptized on November 6, 2004 and was a member of the Refuge Church east of Greentop.
Betty was a collector of dolls, she liked cooking for her family, yards sales, and visiting with people.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday (June 16, 2017) in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial will be in Rose Cemetery, near Graysville, MO.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Rowland, Jesse Rowland, Shane Rowland, Shawn Cherry, Rick Rowland, and Tony Rowland.
Visitation will be Thursday (June 15, 2017) after noon with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, Missouri 63561.
