Bob Henry Stone, 95 of Kirksville passed away Tuesday (April 10, 2018) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.
The son of Pleas and Lois (Taylor) Stone, he was born May 26, 1922 in Jefferson, Texas. On December 30, 1966 in Bryan, Texas he was united in marriage to Dorothy Brown.
Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy; four sons, Kent Stone of Columbia, MO, Reggie Stone and wife Sandi of Rineyville, KY, Kris Stone of Parrish, FL and Brad Stone and wife Lisa of St. Johns, FL; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister and a granddaughter.
Bob graduated high school in Linden, TX in 1942. He served in the United States Navy during WWII serving in the battle of Okinawa and the Occupation of Japan. He received his B.S. from Louisiana Tech, and his Masters of Science and Ph.D. from Texas A&M. He taught at Northeast Missouri State University for 25 years from 1971 to 1987. He retired as Professor Emeritus in the Agricultural Economics.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, visiting shut-ins, baseball and football, especially his Texas A&M Aggies and Dallas Cowboys.
Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday (April 13, 2018) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (April 14, 2018) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Raymond Magruder officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
