Brenda Houf

Brenda L. Dupree Houf, 55 of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 in an auto accident near Keosauqua, Iowa.

The daughter of Lloyd and Wanda (Daniels) Dupree, she was born February 27, 1964 in Kirksville, MO. She grew up in Kirksville and attended Kirksville High School. She worked at Kirksville Manor Care, K.O.H. and Sodexo until 1998 when she moved to Unionville, MO. She was living in Bloomfield, Iowa and worked and spent a lot of time with friends at the American Legion Hall.

Brenda was a very talented musician and played the guitar and sang in several bands. She enjoyed spending time with grandkids, raising dogs, mushroom and rock hunting, being at the lake, hunting and fishing. She lived life to the fullest and had many friends.

Brenda is survived by her children, Kevin Skaggs and Diana of Kirksville, MO, Jodi VanHoutan and Greg of Unionville, MO and Shane Skaggs and Jessica Johnson of Kirksville, MO; one adopted son, Zachary Houf of Unionville, MO; five grandchildren, Aaron VanHoutan, Zachary Houf, Cody VanHoutan, Erial Stutsman, and Hunter VanHoutan; and great grandchild, Lydia VanHoutan; three sisters, Linda Hays and Ron Kiger of LaPlata, MO, Barbara Dupree and Bob Brake of Greentop, MO, and Beverly Lawson of Kirksville, MO; one aunt, Jane Daniels; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Shirley Asher and Sandra Kalo; one grandson, Austin VanHoutan; and one uncle, Larry Daniels.

A celebration of life party will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 14 at the American Legion in Bloomfield, Iowa.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2019 with a Memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
