Camilla Dollins, 76, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA, on Friday, November 1, 2019.
Alice Camilla (Womack) Dollins was born in Kansas City, MO, on April 12, 1943, the daughter of William and Alice (Brown) Womack, who preceded her in death. She was raised in Independence, MO, where she graduated from high school. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO. Camilla married Ronald Dollins in Independence on April 12, 1968, and he survives at home in Unionville.
Camilla taught vocal, band, and orchestral music for her entire teaching career. She taught five years in Kansas City, seven years in Minnesota and in K-12 at Princeton, Cainsville, Mercer, and Galt, Missouri schools. She was a very colorful person who liked to introduce color into her wardrobe, her flowers, her students, and her family. She felt color brought life to living. Camilla had an outgoing personality and met people very easily. She liked to garden and travel, especially to Wyoming and Utah. She also played organ and music for churches. Even while suffering from multiple melanoma, she tried to maintain her “colorful’ life.
Camilla is also survived by her two children: Jason (Veronica) Dollins of Garden Grove, CA, and Jessica (Robert) Goodyear of Unionville, MO. Her surviving grandchildren are Alexandra Fowler, Michael Fowler, Daren Goodyear, Timothy Goodyear, Krissala Goodyear, Isabella Goodyear, Kirstiah Goodyear, and Vincent Dollins. Camilla was preceded in death by a grandson, Wyatt Dollins.
Funeral services for Camilla Dollins will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 7, 2019, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Jacksonville Veteran’s Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and may be entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
