Charles "Charlie" William Miller

November 27, 1941 — January 8, 2022

Charlie Miller, 80, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, after a long battle with respiratory illness.

Charles William Miller was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, on November 27, 1941, the son of Forest and Inez (Britt) Miller, who preceded him in death.  One brother, Donald Miller, also preceded him in death.

Charlie was reared around Novinger, Missouri. His family then moved to Unionville to open a meat locker where Charlie worked.  He graduated from Unionville High School in 1959, then enlisted in the United States Army.  Charlie was asked by the army what skill he had; he told them he was a butcher, so they made him a medic.

Charles married Donna Knowles on November 1, 1968. They moved to Linden, Texas, and opened a Western Auto Store.  Charlie was a businessman at heart.  He opened Miller’s Processing Plant in 1976.  Charlie and Donna moved back to Unionville in 1993 where he opened Charlie’s Place, a retail store with a little bit of everything.

Charlie took pride in being a member of the Free Masons, the Shriners, and the NRA.  He enjoyed golfing, shooting, and collecting guns.  He also enjoyed his ’65 Chevy Impala.  Charlie loved spending time with his dog, Oliver.

Charlie is survived by his wife Donna of the home.  He is also survived by two daughters, Carla Miller of Unionville, Missouri, and Candice (Adam) Talbot of Cameron, Missouri.  Charlie’s three grandchildren are Jayden Spence, Alexis Talbot, and Addison Talbot.

A private family burial service will be held at a later date.  For more information contact Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 660) 947-2200.
