Charlie Klingsmith, 81, passed away at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri, on Thursday, January 14, 2021. He had been a resident there for a little over two years.
Charles Klingsmith was born in Yarrow, Missouri, on October 31, 1939, the son of Muter Ellis and Viola (Stone-Miller) Klingsmith. Charlie’s mother died when he was young, and he was raised in Yarrow by his father. He lived in Livonia, Missouri, most of his life, later moving to Unionville before moving to the Care Center. Charlie was disabled, but he liked to mow yards and work on small engines. He also liked to work on the farm with his brother Floyd. Charlie was a social person who loved to drive his car and visit with friends and neighbors. He loved to sing and had a good voice. He enjoyed attending churches with family and friends. Charlie had a good sense of humor and loved to be around people. He was the unofficial greeter at the Schuyler County Care Center where everyone knew Charlie. His family has described him as “a character” in the most lovable way.
Charlie is survived by two brothers, Benny Klingsmith of Livonia, Missouri, and Jim Klingsmith of Gibbs, Missouri, and a sister, Bonnie of Kirksville, Missouri. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who loved Charlie.
Charlie was preceded in death by his mother and father and four siblings: Muter Ellis Klingsmith, Jr., Hazel Klingsmith, Floyd Klingsmith, and Johnny Klingsmith.
Funeral services will take place for Charlie at Playle & Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, Missouri, at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 17, 2021, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at the Mitchell Cemetery east of Omaha, Missouri.
Memorials for Charlie are suggested to the Mitchell Cemetery and may be entrusted with Playle & Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27 th , Unionville, Missouri, 63565.
