Charles Dick Marts age 92 of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 at his home.

Charles was born October 2, 1928 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Charles & Helen (Pavesic) Marts. On August 31, 1947 he was meted in marriage to Betty Colleen Shelton in the old First Methodist Church that later burned down. To this union one son, James Shelton Marts was born.

Charles is survived by one sister, Sherry May of Kirksville, MO, one sister & brother-in-law, Ann and Jack Hiatt of Pacatoncia, IL, one brother & sister-in-law, Albert & Gina Marts of Langhorne, PA, and many nieces & nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Colleen, his son, James Marts, and one sister, Patty Ann McCollun and his parents, Charles & Helen Marts.

Charles graduated from Kirksville High School where he lettered in football, and also attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College.

Charles enlisted in the Army Reserve Military Forces on June 18, 1945 and was honorably discharged on March 1,1947, after 2 years with Co. M 4th MO Infantry.

In 1955 he went to work for Voltmaster Company Inc., where he was mainly involved with sales, he also served on the board of directors for 7 years when he and another board member cofounded Voltmaster Corporation where he served as Executive Vice President and retired in 1955 after 40 years total service.

Charles was a 56year member in good standing in the Adair Lodge #366 A.F. & A.M., Caldwell Chapter #53 RAM, Kirksville Council #44 R&SM, Ely Commandery #22 KT.

Charles was long time member of faith & First United Methodist Churches, a loving husband, a devoted father. he enjoyed short trips with his wife of 57 years, fishing,
playing golf and playing pool.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Park View Memorial Gardens with Reverend Terry Hunsaker officiating.
