Clayton L. Dillavou, 85 of Kirksville passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at his home.
The son of Leland W. and Lucille (Miller) Dillavou, he was born January 15, 1937 in Freeborn, Minnesota. On January 13, 1963 in San Pedro, California he was united in marriage to Janet Hasty.
Clayton is survived by his wife, Janet; one son, Bob Dillavou and wife Halliana of South Carolina; one daughter, Amy Figueroa and husband Andre of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren, Gavin & Reese Dillavou, Uly Figueroa, Rebecca, Isabelle & Carlos Palomo; and one brother, Craig Dillavou and wife Karen of Overland Park, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Beth Palomo.
Clayton grew up in Minnesota. He graduated Mankato State University with his B.S. and from the University of Missouri with his M.S. He served in the United States Army for twenty years until he retired on July 31, 1979. He was a lab officer and Mirco Biologist. He had his own lab and did analyst to identify molds and yeasts. He was a visiting scholar at Truman State University and volunteered at the Truman Greenhouse. He lead the Kirksville Water shed commission.
He was a member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church. He enjoyed life and spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Quarters fund at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church to help charities in the community.
